Graduate students
- Roman-Valentyn Tkachuk, enrolled in PhD program from
2019-2023. Co-advising with Prof. Kurt Tutschku (main advisor).
Research in the area of security, with focus on orchestration
and marketplace security architectures, with emphasis on
blockchains. His research was highlighted in the Royal Swedish
Academy of Engineering Sciences list IVA’s
100 list that advertises research projects from Sweden
with the potential to create value through commercialization,
business and method development or societal impact. Later worked
a few years with Calabrio and Outpost24 in the cybersecurity
domain, then returned to BTH as assistant university lecturer
;-)
- Erik Bergenholtz, was enrolled in PhD program from
2017-2021. Co-advising with Dr. Emiliano Casalicchio (main
advisor). Research in the area of security, with focus on
detection of malware with self-modifying code. Prior research
was on IPv6 network scanning algorithms. Previously worked as
cyber security consultant at Truesec, Sweden, now cyber security
consultant at Combitech, Sweden. Erik has resumed his PhD
research.
- Vida Ahmadi Mehri, enrolled in PhD program 2017-2019.
Co-advised Vida up to Licentiate degree together with Prof. Kurt
Tutschku (main advisor). Research in the area of security
with focus on privacy and DRM requirements for an AI
marketplace. Worked as security analyst at City Network in
Karlskrona, Sweden, now Data & AI Governance Officer at
Electrolux.
- Sogand Shirinbab, enrolled in PhD program 2012-2019.
Co-advised Sogand together with Prof. Lars Lundberg (main
advisor) 2013-2019, through Licentiate degree and PhD degree.
Research in the area of performance of computer systems, with
focus on virtualization solutions. Currently employed as data
scientist at Ericsson in Karlskrona, Sweden.

- Louise Bergman Martinkauppi and Qiuping He, "On
the Design and Performance of Chinese OSCCA-approved
Cryptographic Algorithms", 2020. Louise works as a
system developer at Mimer Information Technology in Uppsala,
Sweden. Qiuping is currently a Cyber Engineer at IKEA in Malmö,
Sweden.
- Vishnubhotla Venkata Krishna Sai Datta, "On
Designing a Cost-Aware Virtual CDN for the Federated Cloud",
2016. Sai Datta was a PhD student at BTH in Karlskrona, Sweden.
His research interests include human aspects in software
engineering, machine learning, cloud computing and
virtualization. Currently employed as senior software engineer
at Sinch, Sweden.
- Mattias Forsman and Andreas Glad, "Algorithms
for Automated Live Migration of Virtual Machines",
2015. They are currently Software Engineers with Ericsson,
in Karlskrona, Sweden.
- Solomon Kassahun and Atinkut Demessie, "A
PMIPv6 Approach to Maintain Network Connectivity During VM
Live Migration Over the Internet", 2014. Solomon is now
with Hughes Network Systems in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA
working as Principal Engineer I - Software. Atinkut is a
Software Engineer at Capital One in Plano, Texas, USA.
- Charles Mugga and Dong Sun, "Performance
Comparison of IPv6 Multihoming and Mobility Protocols",
2014. Dong Sun is now working for Lionbridge Games from Jinan
City, Shandong, China as Software Development Engineer in Test.
